they are not a combination of sunni and shia. Baathist a FAUX secular movement amongst arabs---mostly
sunnis. Russians like Baathists ----because theoretically Baathists are "REVOLUTIONARIES" ------to a nationalist socialist cause and very much IMPERIALIST Russia likes the socialist imperialist thing for the
purpose of IMPERIALIST ALLIANCE of its own. --------a kind of shared agenda. Assad happens to be
ALAWITE---(which is shia like) AND a BAATHIST -------Russia likes Iran for its FERVENT IMPERIALISM---
of the Shiite variety. -----SEE? there are parts of each to attract the love of-------the other
