This trailer has been down for two months. Can't get apitong right now in the right configuration and dimensions.

It's just too expensive to waste. Thought I had the right stuff...7 inch by 1.125 inch...but when it came in it wasn't rectangular but shiplapped on both sides. Great if you're making a floor, but these are nailer strips 3.5 inches wide. Without the shiplap each 10 foot board would make two nailers.

With the shiplap, one nailer per board, which doubles the $700 cost to $1400...and I'd have to make two cuts per board.

Plan B. Had the sawmill cut red oak rough planking to dimension. $49.20 for 100 feet in 10 foot sections, 3.5"x1.125".

Going to give it a try and see how it holds up.

Worn out nailers and their replacements...

That's the stain I made years ago from black walnut hulls and water. (Link here )...

Bought this on Friday... $33 after 25% off for Labor Day Sale.

Sooooo much more efficient that an air impact.

Big winners and losers...

Winners first.

If you're drilling a hundred holes in ½ in aluminum with an electric hand drill...use one of these...

I had 4 cobalt drill bits...this one put the rest to shame.

Winner #2...

This Craftsman T40 ⅜ socket worked like a champ.

It was punching above it's weight in more ways than one as I was using it on a ½ inch drive impact with a Pittsburgh adapter... neither of which were impact rated. The adapter also gets an honorable mention.

The Harbor Freight electric impact also hits the winners column. Exceeded expectations. As well as the DeWalt multi-speed drill I've had for at least a decade.

The big loser was this Mibro ¼ inch cobalt drill bit from Tractor Supply.

Wouldn't cut at all.

Biggest disappointment...but can't call it a loss were these Pittsburgh T40 ½ inch sockets...which both shattered.

In their defense, they aren't rated for impact use and they did most of the heavier lifting in removing the old Torx deck screws.

Won't be using them for this kind of work again. Light duty only.
