Can anyone name just one wealthy politician who does likewise?
Didn't think so.
President John F. Kennedy
Too bad he wasn't still around and that today's democrats don't follow his example. How much did JFK donate of his income anyway? Just curious.
All of it. ($100,000 in 1961)
FYI...
George Washington (term 1789-1797) refused to accept a salary. At his first inauguration, George Washington added the so help me God to the end of the oath of office.
Herbert Hoover (1929-1933) donated all of his presidential salary to charity, and was the first of all presidents to donate his salary to charity.
John F. Kennedy (1961-1963) donated his salary to charity.
Barack Obamas (2008-present) largest contributions to charity have been $50,000 to CARE, a poverty-based organization, and the United Negro College Fund. Mr. Obama also donated his $1.4 million Nobel Prize money, which he gave to 10 charities.
