Rick Perry's Unusual Speech Performance

Perry's Cornerstone Speech Highlights - YouTube

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry raised some eyebrows Friday night with a speech performance in Manchester, N.H., that was unusually expressive.

A Huffington Post reporter was in the audience for the speech but did not have a chance to review video footage of the Texas governor's remarks until Saturday afternoon when a montage of moments in the speech surfaced on YouTube.

The video below is not a full version of his remarks. It is a carefully edited montage designed to highlight the giddiest and strangest moments of a roughly 25-minute speech. The owner of the YouTube account, CharlieJohnson1986, did not respond to a message sent to the account.
But while the video is designed to make Perry look bad, it does capture elements of his speech that were widely remarked upon in the crowd by those who saw the speech.

"It was different," Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas told HuffPost after the speech.

A Perry spokesman did not respond to an e-mail Friday night inquiring about Perry's manner, and initially declined to comment on Saturday.

You hand this board a cut up version that is 8 minutes long and expect people to hang a man based on that?

Let me tell YOU what is bad. A fast talking, smooth speaking Commie trying to sell free people he roundly criticized behind their backs in Europe, and we're supposed to back that because he speaks well?

Not buying it, synth.

Governor Perry has a solid record of making sure jobs are out there; so much so, Texas has 1,000 of your brethren from all the other 49 states coming here daily, just wanting the respectability of having a job.

He's encouraged businesses to do all they can to give those jobs to who comes, who has a family, who is hungry, who needs a home and a way to support his wife and kids.

And for it, he gets frivolously harumphed by people who like a fast-talking, smooth liar who wants to cripple free people into socialistic, marxist, communism, and seeing people not knowing the freedom carpet is being jerked out from under them is not a pretty picture of a future of people indentured to needless debts imposed against people whose inventions and deeds rewarded them in the past.

Levying taxes against those who are considering expanding people's work horizons is like pouring cement on a child who will be forever imprisoned and unable to move when he needs to.

It's just crazy.

I'll take the guy who pisses off the barracudas of snobshit, but makes sure the people in his state can find work.

You so crazy! Just like Rick.

The jobs he always touts are government jobs and minimum wage jobs. You can't feed a family on a minimum wage job.

The 8 minute version is the only one available, toots. Sorry.

Nobody is looking to hang the man - they don't have hanging as an option in Texas.

He certainly doesn't piss me off. He is amusing, though. Like you!

Did you know that he isn't even leading the Texas poll for president? So even Texans know that he isn't up to the job, and they are a pretty stupid state, on the whole.

He's been a success in the same way a rooster is successful in hoisting the Sun from it's slumber every morning. He crows, the sun rises. I tend to think it would rise regardless of the rooster's crowing. Still the bird doesn't hinder the sunrise. I guess there is something to be said for that.

Sorry, toots. People who haven't worked in a while and are starving want a job.

If you brag too much about it, consider this. Your nutcase president shut down drilling in the Gulf. In one fell swoop his first year, he put tremendous pressure on American oil companies, gave the MidEast a break with doublling our oil and gas prices, he raised America's gas prices more than double, which ended many a mom and pop's tourist industry businesses, jobs, and quadrupled their problems of just trying to make it.

So you just keep up the self righteousness, bub.

People want jobs. Perry has no authority over federal jobs, but he has a chary fiscal eye and doesn't let anybody hurt Texans.

The thousand people a day who spill over our borders from the 49 other states couldn't be all wrong.

There are jobs. They are desirable jobs. We're growing here.

That's not crazy.

What's crazy is people expecting--nay, demanding--something for nothing. When this population of demanders gets out of control, states can no longer pay their regular bills.

Printing press money just devalues the dollar.

This is all Presidential edict stuff, not state power.

You've talked yourself into the Texas offers only poverty jobs too long. You should just drive through the desirable new housing editions anywhere in the Woodlands (Houston suburb) or Dallas-Fort Worth.

People are working. Homes and yards have never been prettier. And a lot of us love our governor who made it possible through hard, intelligent work and networking to get the good jobs and the good life for many, many Texans and adoptee Texans who also find work here.

Now, what was the complaint?

Oh, yea. When the press makes sure the Republicans don't run a winner like Perry, guess what. He's still excited about bringing jobs to Texas, and he has a plan to make good things happen for people whom he serves. And he does serve people. He could have a cushy job, but he does the hard, challenging work of governing. He's bright, he a caring man who loves family, community, country, and wherever he lands will be blessed.

Since I live here, I'll win either way the mop flops. It's fun living among people who have jobs and can pay their bills, go out once in a while, and get there in a new car their job paid for.

Maybe becki can tell us why Perry isn't leading the Texas poll for President.

Then maybe she can tell us why she can't properly spell 'Becky'.

Does Perry usually give speeches when he is stoned or is it just something he does while campaigning?

The zingers he stuck his opponents with were pretty good actually. If you blinked you missed them.

The Rachel Maddow show got the pun of the day in...

...Perry Normal Activity.

He may have an undisclosed medical issue. Someone on Maddow said he behaved a bit odd at CPAC in January. Someone else on Olbermann said that she had a strange encounter with him and his hands were ice cold when she shook his hand.

I don't want him as president, obviously, but I hope he doesn't ignore possible life-threatening problems.

He wasn't stoned he looked drunk...

If you were running for president and stoned you'd probably give the most straight laced speech ever.... drinking makes you animated and not give a fuck

I still would never vote for him but best speech I've seen him give by far lol
