Report Workers Comp Benefits Cut In Most States

As a result, employers paid workers’ comp insurance rates at their lowest levels since the 1970s, while workers injured on the job run the risk of falling into poverty.

Observers also noted cuts in workers’ comp benefits effectively shift the burden from employers to taxpayers, who fund Social Security Disability Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid benefits and even food stamps.

The legal system, however, could provide a potential remedy. In Florida, which slashed benefits to severely disabled workers by 65 percent over the past two decades, a judge ruled the workers’ comp law unconstitutional last summer.

Should that ruling stand, it would once again allow workers to sue their employers over workplace injuries—the exact circumstance that helped lead to the creation of the workers’ comp system more than a century ago.

Florida slashed benefits to the disabled. Wow, sounds very conservative. And by 65%. What a "success".

So you approve. Thought so.

Is the low information so desperate for an issue that they post headlines rather than read the junk they reference? According to the article, the biggest cuts in "workman's comp" happened in 2003 in Oklahoma and California. Both administrations were democrat.

dear, it benefits were too high it was a success and if they were too low it was a failure.
you are an open communist so assume all welfare benefits of all kinds are too low.
Do you understand?

I've seen too many union work environments that protect scumbags who milk the system. A company now has a husband/wife team who rotate 15 month back injuries. They and the insurance companies and the tort system divert employee funds. It's theft. Where's the outrage?

Speaking as someone that has processed WC claims in the past. Most of the stuff people try to pass off as job related "injuries"are laughable.

Most? Are you telling us that most people file false claims, or are you told by your boss to turn down every claim?

I didn't turn down anything... The WC insurance companies did... with good reason too.

I'm telling you that most of the claims people submit are BS as are most of the reasons for their ER visits. Anything to get out if working.
