I have no idea of how many times I've seen Durning and had no idea of his military actions. I certainly hope he will be buried with appropriate military honors.

    Enjoyed his work very much.
Might be considered underrated as an actor...my opinion.

Something with these old time soldiers from WWII.
They never seemed to talk about it.

Then we have some who served recently making sure everyone knows they served.

    One comes to mind.
    From the political arena.
    From the Northeast.
    A Senator.
    From the New England area.
Served in Vietnam....Oh boy he makes sure you know he served in Vietnam.
    Married the Ketchup lady...

I will show a little class here and not mention his " reporting for duty" name.

RIP Charles Durning and thank you for your service to this country and thank you for many years
of what should be considered a wonderful career.

A favorite moment in his career ... Little did he know he was recording the theme song of the GObP

I believe Durning's most recent role was on the TV series "Rescue Me", as Denis Leary's father.

He was a great actor, period.

But the good news is we'll be able to continue to enjoy his work in the many characters he portrayed throughout his fine acting career.

For he and the countless other vets who survived WW II for these many decades now just makes me feel good.
