Rand is filibustering the Patriot Act right now!!!

"For the past seven hours, Senator Paul has been holding the Senate floor, keeping Reid and his allies from rushing this bill through the Senate without debate or amendments."

"A combination of the Senate's arcane rules and Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) insistence on voting on several controversial amendments may cause the Patriot Act to lapse at the end of the week.

The expiration of the law before the passage of an extension would create an upheaval in the law enforcement community which relies on its authority to track suspected terrorists."

I'm still not quite sure what to think about Rand. He seems to be more willing to equivocate and play politics than his dad is. In theory, that could be a good thing. Historically, it's almost always been bad. We'll see.

Wish he'd do the same for the WAR in DRUGS, because that's where the laws are that are really eroding most citizens' civil rights.

Yeah, that'd be nice but that's not how it works. You can't just filibuster any bill, the only reason Rand could filibuster the Patriot Act is because it reached the end of the four year expiration date and it was put on the floor to be debated and passed (or in this case, rejected).

Bravo. About time someone stood up and refused to go along with the program. Where are all the nut cases that were calling him a totaltarian now?
