Led by speakers on a podium, protesters holding placards and banners chanted pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel slogans.

At one point, a woman on the podium shouted “from the river to the sea” — a call for the elimination of Israel — and protesters responded by yelling “Palestine will be free.”

Two synagogues are attacked after a peaceful protest turns sour in Paris which is the home to Western Europe's largest Muslim population and largest Jewish community


Anti-Israel demonstrators in Paris attacked two synagogues in the city's Bastille Square on 13 July 2014 following a protest against Israel's offensive against Hamas.

Recent violence in Gaza has raised emotions in France, home to Western Europe's largest Muslim population and largest Jewish community.

Several thousand demonstrators walked calmly through the streets of Paris behind a large banner that read "Total Support for the Struggle of the Palestinian People".

But clashes erupted at the end of the march on Bastille Square, with people throwing projectiles onto a cordon of police who responded with tear gas. A bystander filmed one of the instances which shows the moment when a Synagogue on Rue de la Roquette was attacked by protesters

The cars have different colored license plates because they are not registered by the same government. It has nothing to do with race, since many Israelis (with Israeli plates) are Arabs.
