Pussy Riot Gives Amazing Interview to Stephen Colbert About Russia's Anti-Gay Laws: VIDEO| Gay News | Towleroad

Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina, the members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot who were freed from prison in December, appeared on The Colbert Report, to talk about their intent to improve prison conditions worldwide and fight against human rights abuses.

Colbert grilled them about their detention, warning them that he was a friend of Vladimir Putin's. They also had a lengthy discussion about Russia's anti-gay laws and showed off their excellent sense of humor.

Very courageous young women and an excellent interview. Really points up what a coward homophobe Putin is.

(Yes, this is a gay link but the interview is available on other sites as well.)

What Pussy Riot did was an attack on human rights. They belong in prison and their leader deserves to be where she is, in Siberia.

You haters can always say you want people hurt but you never say why.

EXACTLY what did they do that you object to?

The far right and libertarians call every body they don't like commie, socialist, Marxist, then they all get in line to suck Putin's dick. I don't get it.

I notice that no one has said what Pussy Riot did that they object to ...

Instead, teh deafening roar of CRICKETS!

They decided it would be a good idea to protest in a church when services were going on. When asked to stop, they refused. To them, invading a church and interfering in the services was a legitimate protest and no one should be able to stop them. The churchgoers didn't have a right to peacefully assemble and worship.

They got stopped and jailed for hooiganism. Had it ended there, it would have been a few days in jail and they would have been out. Instead they tried to start a prison riot and had their sentences extended. The "leader" caused so much trouble that she was separated from her group and sent to Siberia.

Russia was far too gentle with them. The appropriate course of action would be to say to the people in the Church, "if it happens again, you may use any means you see fit to restore order in your church."

I went to the Amnesty International Concert and they were there.

Aside from being smoking hot, they were on message.

Vile *****. They serve themselves; all their putrid acts are showmanship wrought of juvenile piggish intolerance and hatred. I hope they all die of anal cancer, and Colbert's schtick is as worn out as Madonna's gaping gash.

It's no wonder the youth of the world are immoral and amoral cretins.

The Church is nothing more than a theater for the performance of morality plays and other ritual practices.

What they did is called performance art.

What goes on in most churches "performance art".

Gets really tiresome reading rw's yammering against things they know nothing about. For them, its all about the hate. They worship proven frauds like the DD liars, they don't mind that DD is laughing at their stupidity, but suggest that all humans should have equal rights and they start screaming their nasty wishes for "anal cancer".

Interesting that the rw nutters who replied to this thread are known for hating our Constitution and our country.

Seeing as how they live in the US they hate, they have the right to spew their vile venom. I support the very freedom they would take away from their own country and that they celebrate being taken away from these brave women. That't the difference between the left and right.

Doesn't matter. Your right to be annoying stops when you begin to annoy others. If I went to a performance at Kennedy Center and was a disruptive asshole I would expect to get tossed in jail as well. Then when inciting to riot, I would expect a fairly long prison sentence.

I have no problem with protests on PUBLIC STREETS. When you invade the property of somebody else you get what you deserve.
