I have come across a new online tool ( The Readability Test Tool ), which seems to confirm my suspicion on the declining quality of journalism. Now, not all journalists are guilty of providing poor quality journalism, but certainly all the mainstream news sources are guilty of what I feel is a 'dumbing down' and generally providing news to children's reading ages; rather than providing news that uses an expanded vocabulary and treats readers as intelligent human beings.
As an example of how poor journalism can be, I tried out an article in the New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/16/w...-corruption-hampering-indias-growth.html?_r=0 ) and put it through the tool: Readability Test Results
