If there is a bias or over sampling the news org has a duty to inform the public.

Polls are often made in a way to give a result that the company making them wants.

They're designed to manipulate people, if people see only Reps and Dems have a chance, they'll only vote Reps and Dems.... so polls are important for keeping the two main parties in their dictatorship.

Yep, I’ve always said polls were pointless, you can make them say anything you want, they always oversample someone one way or another.
