The American tradition of limitless resourcefulness on display again.
Stephen Ambrose, in his books chronicalling the efforts and exertions of the American soldier in WWII made reference to that resourcefulness time and again. If he encountered a problem, the solution arose out of the soldiers dealing with that problem there on the spot. Contrast that with German General Von Runstedt's reluctance to awaken Hitler with a request for releasing the Panzers to him in order to push the Allies back into the sea.
