I've always wondered the why most right wingers deride the federal government, while doing everything possible to be at the helm of such a government.

They seem to simply love capitalism while neglecting that such capitalism could not flourish and even survive without the democratic (and, YES, socialistic) precepts that workers are just as valuable as corporations.

Simple because we can't trust you to stay out of our lives so we make sure we keep the government out of our lives.

It's not exactly rocket science. If you want a limited federal government you don't hand it over to those who say they are going to make it bigger.

Why that's lost on the Trump supporters or the Democrats is beyond me.

As for marriage, I believe the government should be involved in marriage as little as possible. I am against quite a lot of the government gifts bestowed on marriages. But if we are going to demand government gifts for being married, then gays should receive equal protection under the laws which bestow those gifts.
