What a twat. It doesn't matter that the american people made it clear that they don't want the socialist health care. Pelosi wants to shove it down our throats whether we like it or not.

Pelosi: Obama’s Health Care Appeal “Very Powerful” And “Helpful To Us” | The Plum Line

Best of all, a striking quote from Pelosi underscoring her determination to get health care done:

“You go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole-vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in. But we’re going to get health care reform passed for the American people.”

they should just go single payer and get the insurance companies out as there is no reason for them. this alone would cut costs as doctors don't have to fight with numerous insurance companies and all the bullshit they pull as they attempt to not pay for services or reimburse properly. pharmaceutical companies should then be clamped down on for their overpriced goods and gouging of doctors because tehy aren't regulated.

Quite frankly, I did not enjoy that visual.

What in the existing bill is socialist?

It provides for private companies to insure Americans

In its current form it is no way socialist.
However, it does not address the issue of rising healthcare cost.
So, in essence, it is another entitlement program.
Be honest and let the people know it and maybe it will get support.
People are not arguing healthcare reform...they are sick and tired of being told one thing when it is another.
It is an insult to the intelligence of the American People.

Seeing as we employ them (congress) I have a question...
How would a company owner react if he found out one of his employees was misleading him or her...even if it were in an effort to generate revenue for the company?

The problem with the current bill is that it doesn't address the problem The cost.

They should start from scratch and go after that problem by letting the ins companies compete across state lines. Competition is always good. The free market will work if they only let it.

One of the other major things they should address is Tort reform. Not all law suites are bunk but some are. They force doctors to carry big insurance polices. These doctors pass that on to their patients. That won't be easy as the trials lawyers throw money left and right whenever tort reform comes up.

I'm sure there are other thing they could do. Take the problems item by item and see what they can come up with. Just sayin.

Tort reform is nice until you are the one who has been injured. By all major analysis, it will provide minimal savings to our overall healthcare bill. But I think we should put it in their to shut the Republicans up.

They will still vote NO

Tort reform being a part of what is needed.. to reduce some cost and to keep the frivolous out of scale lawsuits out of our courts... add to it increased competition by reducing regulation, bringing forth an era where ANY organized group can solicit for and offer group plans (leading to more options and competition, which is a GOOD Thing), etc...

Obama and the DEM's plan is a red-tape filled piece of shit entitlement program where taxpayer dollars will be used to provide, subsidize, and operate systems over people's personal care and personal responsibility

As I said. Not all suites are bunk. Some Doctors should be sued as malpractice does happen.

I work in the Court System down here in Florida and believe me, some of the suites are ridiculous. You wouldn't believe some of the crap that ends up here in our court system. Some of these trials take weeks.

The trial lawyers are making millions and the Doctors are paying millions in insurance costs which they of course pass on to their patients.

Might be a drop in the bucket but it sure wouldn't hurt.

Fixing whats wrong is only common sense. Jeeze.

Can someone please clarify this socialist stuff for me?

1. When a Government run healtcare system was proposed it was called socialist

2. So they dropped single payer and said people could keep their private insurance but would have an option to buy Government insurance........and the right called it socialist

3. So they dropped the public option entirely and went to pure private insurance....and the right STILL is calling it socialist

Does the right even know what socialism is?

A quote from the man himself.

"We said from the start it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people [that] if you want to keep the health insurance you've got, you can keep it; that you're not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision-making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge."

Frivolous suits should be handled as frivolous suits. There should be a way to dismiss them immediately and assess court costs against the filer and their lawyer.

If you are legitimately injured, the court should determine what your damages are, not some Government bureaucrat.....isn't the Government deciding your damages socialism?

Winger asks the right question. Nothing in the existing bill is socialist.
Medicare is more socialist and Republicans NOW favor NO cuts there.
My premium just jumped 16% and we are a very healthy family of 5.
Folks, this system is unsutainable left untouched. Blank check health care will bankrupt us and soon.

Ahhh the ignorance

The courts are also filled with government 'crats

Nobody is saying for the government to 'decide' damages outside of the court... but to put into place checks to ensure that someone who had the wrong mole removed does not put in a lawsuit for 137MIL...

And I agree that people caught with frivolous law suits should be forced to pay...

your line "3" is not true. No one is calling ther senate version socialist.

As for line "2", some called it socialist becuase of the provision that one must opt into the public option if and when they change their existing carrier. The issue was with the "grandfather clause" that said you did not have to drop your exisating coverage, but when you do you MUST go into the public option....and any other carrier is no longer an option to you. This gave it good reason to see it as socialist as there was a government mandate to go into the government run plan.

tort redform is a red herring and makes up about 1% of health care spending. conservatives should not advocate congress intervening with personal lawsuits

That 1% is a talking point and in no way confirmed as it was not put up for debate and true analysis.
You simply regurgitated what Obama claimed.

Government is not intervening in lawsuits...it simply wants to eliminate those that try to capitalize opn the legal system for personal gain.

All they want to do is pass a law that states that if your case is proven to be frivolous, you incur the defendants court costs.

Just as the law now states that if it is proven to be accurate, the one suing can sue for legal costs as well.

They simply want to giove people reason to feel that they trulybelieve they have a case before the enter court.

The system now allows them to "try" even if it does not have merit.

And the result is....PEOPLE TRY just for the heck of it.

1% came from the cbo not obama, he "regurgitated" their numbers

All they want to do is pass a law that states that if your case is proven to be frivolous, you incur the defendants court costs.

all this does is hurt patients (more than they already will be) as even legit claims will be scared to sue. you are only helping the insurance companies and doctors in this case and really hurting the average person.
