Papa John's Obamacare Costs Are Far Less Than Price Of Free Pizza Giveaway

News flash to Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter: Obamacare isn’t the only thing costing your business money.

The pizza chain head has made his views on the Affordable Care Act clear in recent months, claiming the new health care law will cost his business about $5 to $8 million per year. To compensate Schnatter's said he will likely raise pizza prices and cut back some workers’ hours so he doesn’t have to insure them.

Caleb Melby of Forbes has graciously done the math on Obamacare’s cost to Papa John’s and according to his analysis, to cover the cost of Obamacare, the pizza chain would have to raise prices by 3.4 to 4.6 cents per pie -- way less than the 11 to 14 cents Schnatter claims he needs.

And there are other changes the chain could make to save some money, Melby notes, like not giving away 2 million pizzas for free at a cost of between $24 and $32 million to the company, for example.

So, the obamacare costs will be 5-8 million and that constitutes cutting employee hours and firing others.

But he has no problem on giving away 23 million in free pizzas nationwide.

Thats a load of horse shit and unjustified. And you know it.

Figured you would LOVE the free pizzas. Seeing as they cant afford it and still giving it out.. HHHMMMMM

No excuses.

Apperantly, they didn't feel nice enough to let the people keep their jobs and instead wanted to be greedy.

They don't OWE those people jobs. When will libs understand that other humans don't owe you anything? If you don't like Papa Johns pizza, don't eat there. If you don't like their working policies, don't work there. If you think people are owed jobs, get off your ass and provide them.

Over in France and Italy and other european countries, they have laws that require companies to have health insurance and other benefits if the number of employees is 50 or higher. So, employers make sure they don't go over 49 unless there is good evidence that it will be worth it. The number of companies with 48 or 49 employees is inordinately high. Policies like that are not helpfull for an economy that wants to grow an create jobs.

Papa Johns will employ EXACTLY the number of employees it takes to meet the demand for their pizza. Not one more and not one less because of anything else. Only a fool would run his business any other way. And if they were fools - they probably wouldn't be as big as they are.

But their pizza blows.

The huffington post knows WAY more about running Papa Johns than Papa John. After all, huffpo is liberal and they know everything.

Of course that's not true. They will employ exactly that number of employees that enables them to meet their overhead and make a profit. If the demand for the product is exceeded by the overhead necessary to produce that product, the company goes out of business. Or, they could just start charging $30.00 for a pizza.

Greed has literally everything to do with it. Were you taught nothing about being too greedy when you were a child?

They can't. If they charged that much, they would go out of business overnight as people buy from the slightly more expensive local shops (That taste so, SO much better).

The price reflects the demand.
They will hire what it takes to meet the demand. Period.

Wrong, they will hire (or fire) what it takes to make the most profit.

Demand varies with the price, if PJ's raises the price the demand drops. Why would they raise the price? Because labor costs go up when they have to provide health insurance or pay a tax penalty. A lot of businesses are doing away with their health insurance plans cuz they believe it will be more expensive to keep them than pay the tax penalty. Or, if possible they keep the number of employees below the minimum so they aren't affected by the new law. Not exactly what you want to see if you want more job creation.

He would rather give away pizza for free than allow his employees to have healthcare
