Why do you suppose that we have not been discussing this story, while on the other hand, we discussed Haiti in depth?

We're not getting enough media to tell us or show us how poor and pitiful they are and famous musicians don't have ties there as the Beatles and Bangladesh.

I didn't care about the hatians, and i sure as hell dont care about the pakistanies.

If we spend money on flooding victims how about we use the money on our own flooding victims.

because we are rotten evil people.

I don't think that's the reason.

My theory is that the destruction in Pakistan is less obvious and far more spread out. Essentially, the place just looks like a big lake.

Unlike Haiti, where the destruction was in a relatively smaller area and was much more obvious in seeing completely destroyed buildings with massive amounts of rubble.

That's my theory too. I made a thread about it a couple days ago, no response. The other thing is certain people on here could and did turn Haiti into a political issue, not so much room to do so here.

I guess I didn't see that thread.

Either that, or I saw the letters U.N. at the beginning of the title and decided that I wanted to have nothing to do with that organization's leftist, Marxist, socialist, un-American propaganda.

No you asking why we aren't doing the bleeding heart thing for them. Why arent we talking about it...

ooohhhh poor flooded people.

But in talking about it you open the topic of spending money on them...the US government IS spending money on them... hence my comment.

Let the arab oil money take care of them. See if Duabi can spare a few dollars (or what ever it is they call their money) I am SICK of the US coming to the rescue.

You were the only one who brought up money.

And I'm not asking anything about bleeding heart. I'm just talking about this board.

This is only the second thread on the matter, and the first with any responses. I was just wondering why?

pakistan is on the other side of the globe...haiti is right next door...

pakistan flooding is common, maybe not to this extent, but its common in the monsoon season. a massive earthquake or tsunami will always get more coverage as it is more sensational....

imo

"More sensational", I think there's your answer. It's not being covered because the pictures aren't sensational enough. Who can get all breathlessly overexcited about a lake?

it's simple:

americans enslaved blacks, not pakistanis.

white guilt only goes so far...

Exactly what I was thinking.

This came up the other day when my wife was telling me about how terrible the devastation was over there, and I realized that I hadn't heard anything about it.

Yup. Not really a peep about it.
