Many people do not go to concerts early because they do not want to see the support act. Here are some concerts I went to where the support act was better.

1) Toni Childs opening for Dylan. She was incredible, he was drunk and sucked.
2) Velvet Underground opening for the Grateful Dead. The Velvets were superb, the Dead made a lot if noise. We left early.
3) The Byrds opening for the Rolling Stones. My first concert ever in 1965. When we went into the concert, the Stones were our favorite band. When we left, it was the Byrds
4) The Flying Burrito Brothers opening for the Byrds. Too close to call.
5) The Mastersons opening for Steve Earle. They did not play long enough.
6) Robert Randolph opening for Eric Ckapton. Robert blew Ckapton off if the stage. The fact that Clapton used him in a subsequent tour says a lot about Eric.

How about you? What are the best opening acts that you have seen?

A band called Black Oak Arkansas opening up for Black Sabbath back in the early '70s.
