So if a 19 year old has sex with his 17 year old girlfriend 2 hours before her 18th birthday, he's committing child rape, but it's perfectly fine if he waits 2 hours?

Jared the Subway guy got 15 years and 8 months, but it was because he was in possession of a large cache of child pornography.

Sandusky got 442 years in jail for more than 60 counts of child molestation.

This guy got 12 years for 1 count of sex with a minor. Sorry, but it's not quite in the same league as Jared or Sandusky.

You know, if she was at a bar and drinking, then one could reasonably assume that she was over 21, as you would expect a bar to card the people that go there. If that is the case, I would be willing to let him out of jail after 1 year, and then a couple of years probation, but not 10 years as he's currently got.

If there was force used, then maybe this sentence is okay. I mean, he's more than likely gonna be eligible for parole in 6 years, and if he minds his business, he may even get time off for good behavior. If he wants to badly enough, he can get his sentence shortened a bit, but he might have to work for it.
