Obama -"Let's get rid of the whales."

Yes, I heard this as well. Fox was not alone in reporting it. I don't understand why it isn't creating more outrage, or why Obama thinks this is a great time to help assure the extinction of a linchpin species.
how are whales linchpin species? I really don't get it.

What a lot of environuts forget is that humans are the linchpin species.
okay... someone explain to me what a linchpin species IS... I've never heard the term before.

A linchpin species is the one species that the entire ecosystem depends upon to survive, at least that is the theory. Bees would be an example of such a species as without bees most plants would die off, and you can see how that would kill off animals.

How is that? You're the nut, if you think that's the case. Watch "Life After People" sometime. The world would get along very well without us.

Okay, then back to my original question, how are whales linchpin species? I now can't even say that humans are linchpin species.

Hell, I don't think ANY top predators are linchpins, but some very basic creatures like bees and worms and ants could be... maybe.

Seen parts of it. Never could stomach more than 15 minutes at one time. Most fucking retarded "science" TV show ever made. The predictions are laughable and just as valid as something I'd predict by pulling it out of my ass. Fever Dream Chicken Little fetish property. I'd call it Sci Fi, but really.. it sucks too hard to give it that lofty title.

Environmentalists, already peeved with the administration’s handling of the Gulf oil spill, are accusing President Obama of breaking his campaign pledge to end the slaughter of whales.
The Obama administration is leading an effort within the International Whaling Commission to lift a 24-year international ban on commercial whaling for Japan, Norway and Iceland, the remaining three countries in the 88-member commission that still hunt whales.

FOXNews.com - Obama Under Fire for Backing Deal to Lift Global Ban on Commercial Whaling

There is a sizable group of people who vote Democratic because they are perceived as being the greener party. So far, other than lip service to cut carbon emissions, and a scheme to allow fat cats to buy credits so they can fuel their private jets and heat their mansions, Obama has done nothing of substance.

Every time I think about this, I start to laugh and it is->NUKE THE WHALES.

That would be kind of funny seeing a 100 ton creature being blown a thousand feet into the air.

Please god forgive me.

That made me think of this

Well, Madeline, you made the claim. Answer the man. :doubt:

If you want to save the whales they need to be given voting rights and the ability to make campaign contributions.

I'm guessing that this post is tongue-in-cheek, but not so quick,

The Obama Administration has, in fact suggested strategy pretty close...

"In fact, Sunstein has stated that animals may have the right to sue in court. His position stops short of granting animals full citizenship and while he believes they still may be considered property, they should be granted the opportunity to sue with human representation in a court of law. In this far-fetched parallel reality, there would practically be an end to any animal use anywhere in the United States.

A chicken suing a farmer for better living conditions is just as preposterous as an attorney representing a deer that has been hit by a car. Those kind of questions addressing animal welfare are usually settled through regulation.'

Beats me, I was mostly joking about humans.

Well, not exactly... just some humans.

The originator of environmentalism was a fascist whose ideas were part of the Nazi eugenics program.

a. Proto-fascist, and founder of ecology, Ernst Haeckel, invested nature-worship with the belief that all matter was alive and possessed mental attributes. In ‘monism,’ he brought together hostility to Christianity and propaganda for Darwinism, a nature cult and theories of hygiene and selective breeding.
J.W. Burrow, “The Crisis of Reason: European Thought, 1848-1914,” p. 218-19

b. “In 1867 the German zoologist Ernst Haeckel coined the term 'ecology'
and began to establish it as a scientific discipline dedicated to studying
the interactions between organism and environment. Haeckel believed in nordic racial superiority, strenuously opposed race mixing and enthusiastically supported racial
eugenics. Haeckel contributed to that special variety of German
thought which served as the seed bed for National Socialism. He
became one of Germany's major ideologists for racism, nationalism
and imperialism…he fulminated in antisemitic tones…played a
key role in the establishment of the Nazi movement.”

I'm guessing that this means that chickens and deer are Democrats, but whales....they must be Republicans.
