Today is election day in North Rhine-Westfalia. The artificial state that was created by the allies after WWII is traditionally a SPD stronghold but it is said that it will be close this time. For the SPD, Berlin despiser Hannelore Kraft runs again and against the CDU´s Laschet guy. The election of the most populated German state attracted both chancellor candidates of the upcoming federal election.
Recently, a Brazilian photographer visited NRW´s ghettos. Will they be addressed in the next legislative period?

The CDU wins and the SPD lost 9 %. The AfD enters the Parliament. This result adds to the plight of the SPD of the last elections, last week in Schleswig-Holstein for example. Laschet promises to focus on security: "No tolerance for criminals". His other points are education, infrastructure and deregulation of the economy. Kraft resigns from heir charges as NRW SPD frontwoman and SPD vice chairwoman.

Another blow for Schulz...

According to current predictions, a coalition of CDU and the resurrected FDP is possible. The leftist party packs the bags. With the FDP and the green party excluding each other, only a grand coalition or a CDU/FDP coalition is possible.

Nobody wants to go to bed with the CDU. The SPD wants to make Laschet´s period as difficult and short as possible and the FDP whines about that, stressing a grand coalition is traditionally always on the table. It will probably be the FDP and if not, there will be a minority government or new elections unless a party changes its mind.
