nosarcasm said:true, still its part of society we help out people that messed up.
To condemn them to death because of poor judgement is not
how I d like our society to be.
If you are struck by some natural catastrophe, I ll do my part
to save your butt.
I worked in flood rescue in my hometown where I came face to face
with people that ignored evacuation notices.
Our floodings were yearly, so even less excuses, still for whatever
reasons some fall back to my home is my castle attitude.
Hopefullly when I am stuck in a bad situation they ll return the favor
and save me.

Shattered said:More to the point, hopefully you'll heed the warnings to get the hell out instead of sitting on your ass expecting someone ELSE to drop what they're doing and save it. If you absolutely can't get out, that's one thing. Refusal to exercise common sense is entirely another.
nosarcasm said:I give them some slack on the bitching, I faced it myself, but its human.
Your house is flooded , all your priced possessions and pictures are gone.
Your car is ruined, you lost pretty much everything. Depending on the severity
of the situation (in the case of Germany where flooding happen during winter)
you froze your butt off on the top of your house.
You are miserable and depressed. Most are happy when they
are rescued some lost it and are pissed and angry with the world.
Its the same everywhere, I wouldnt hold it against them. Desperation
doesnt help with logical thinking.
nosarcasm said:I worked as a voluntary firefighter. I have seen people lost their children
to fire that they caused by smoking in bed. They are devasted by
their own actions and the guilt. Does that mean we let em burn in their
house . no.
I developed more compassion in all of this. Yeah they are at fault
but it was not their intent to do this shit. They are not criminals
that did it intentionally, and thats where I see the difference.
If you murder someone in cold blood dont expect my compassion.
You make a grave mistake, well when you see their guilt
it is different.
Its hard to desribe. The worst case is when children are killed.
Most be some evolutionary thing, but even our veterans
of 30 years are emotionally all messed up after these cases.
Adam's Apple said:Hell, the National Guard practically has to force the remaining stragglers in the city to leave. They're so dumb they think all that water is just going to disappear overnight. They not only have no food, water, transportation, job, etc.--they have no brains, their most serious handicap!! Now while the libs are shooting off their mouths saying Bush failed them, let them not forget that the public school system failed them too. A cruel reminder of Bush's stand on education.
Really, gotta stay and protect that stolen property so no one steals it.dilloduck said:I'm wondering how many are refusing to leave becasue their homes are filled with drugs, guns and things they have stolen.

Adam's Apple said:Nosarcasm, are you totally unaware that the game of politics has entered into this national tragedy, almost from the first day? I like your perspective on things, but in America politics enters every issue and befogs common sense approaches and compassionate thinking.
