. It's that the insurance side of this thing is mostly where the problem is. High prices, denials of payments for services, cancelations, shifting cost to government, and on and on it all goes. The government has never made anything better, what is it about insurance that makes people think the government is suddenly going to get something rightOK and the free market system is flawed as we have learned over time, and so what is the answer to that ? According to some nothing should be the answer when it does go wrong, but isn't that foolish thinking? Isn't there always room to tweak and correct things that go wrong in order to make it all go better? We should be able to fix things without causing major problems to arise. If we can't then we are fools.. The incentive will remain, but the system will be just set up differently. The basic insurance side of it will be a non-profit, but the provider side of it will remain free market in order to create, motivate, compete, and keep prices in line just as it should be. Now additional insurance can be purchased outside the government plan, in which is how it should be. No government interference between you and your doctor (you will keep your own doctor if you want). You can purchase healthcare from a provider of your choice with your government health card, as long as the provider is legit, and has a good grade with no past history of being a criminal set up or has been involved with fraudulent behavior or etc.take away the opportunity for profit and you take away then incentive to work in the field.. Profits over care seems to be what has driven the train far off the rails, so if somehow this nation can seperate profit from life or death situations, we would be much better off. Money should never come between whether or not a human being lives or dies all because of... Period
Profit drives innovation
Again , there is NO free market in health care. If the government - coercion --is involved in any way shape or form there is NO free market.
Free Market
¶
In a free economy, where no man or group of men can use physical coercion against anyone, economic power can be achieved only by voluntary means: by the voluntary choice and agreement of all those who participate in the process of production and trade. In a free market, all prices, wages, and profits are determined—not by the arbitrary whim of the rich or of the poor, not by anyone’s “greed” or by anyone’s need—but by the law of supply and demand. The mechanism of a free market reflects and sums up all the economic choices and decisions made by all the participants. Men trade their goods or services by mutual consent to mutual advantage, according to their own independent, uncoerced judgment. A man can grow rich only if he is able to offer better values—better products or services, at a lower price—than others are able to offer.
