TRENTON - Smoking might be banned at beaches, amusement parks and racetracks in New Jersey. A state Senate committee today will consider consolidating three bills that would expand retrictions already imposed by some Jersey shore towns.

State Sen. Andrew Ciesla (SEES'-la) of Ocean County wants to prohibit smoking on state-owned beaches. Sens. Barbara Buono of Middlesex County and Loretta Weinberg of Bergen County would ban smoking at state- and municipal-owned beaches and parks.

Sen. Shirley Turner of Mercer County would ban smoking on beaches and other public places, such as racetracks and amusement parks. If the committee approves the combined bill, the full Senate could vote on the measure as early as Monday.

LOL

The Governor is considering reallowing smoking in the AC Casinos

So good luck with that

I hope it passes and is applied to all beaches

Smokers use NJ beaches as one giant ashtray. At the end of the day, there are thousands of butts buried in the sand that must be raked up.

If smokers weren't such pigs and picked up their own mess, we would not have to treat them like children

Why should irresponsible adults be treated like anything but?

because turnabout is fair play and I'd hate to see a bunch of pink lunger bitches cry like ironic punchlines the day someone else decides to run their life choices through a magnifying glass. This is America, not your personal standard machine.

This is just going too far. Indoors, you have a point, fine, ban them indoors. Outdoors in billions of cubic feet of atmosphere, you are not getting damaged from second hand smoke, its such a crock of shit. I know a major reason to do this at beaches is the jerks who throw their butts in the sand

All you have to do is watch at the end of the day when they rake the beaches to see what most of the garbage is

They don't need to ban smoking, what they need to do is enforce littering laws.
