The ratings are way down in NASCAR as well. Down as much as 20% according to some studies and they have NO ISSUE with kneeling for the Anthem. There are other factors that Nielsen is having a hard time with. They are trying to rectify it by tracking the streaming numbers. More and more people are using the streaming devices to view programs, especially sports (especially football.) People are also using their DVR to tape programs to fast forward through commercials. That, is what is accounting for the numbers being down more than likely.

Attendance is also down just due to the high cost of attending the games. Most middle class families cannot justify that expense. If a family of 3 go to a game, after paying for 3 tickets (in the upper upper decks), after parking and concessions that is about $400 to $500 dollar day. The Chargers had the audacity to charge their fans $100 to park last year.

That is obscene, and they were trying desperately to establish a fan base? Or so they said. It is not much cheaper in other crucial areas. The NFL level greed is what is killing the fans (middle class fans which is the mean of the fan base.) Why would anyone pay that much when they can live stream or go to the bar? Have a better view etc.

Also, NFL Red zone Channel is effecting the NFL ratings numbers. According this article the NFL is not releasing the Red Zone ratings. It is commercial free and I know I have had that on pretty much all day until the game I want to see comes on.

The Nielsen Group is struggling to develop accurate ratings innovations to account for the streaming factors.

This issue of ratings is far more complicated than kaepernick. That issue is just for political opportunists to divide and conquer like they always do. Since, this country is constant campaign mode, that is going to happen.

It is more complicated than that. We do know how kaepernick is used. We know about their race card and how they beat us over the head daily with it. We know his girlfriend is a militant BLM gold digging marxist. We also know the left love marxism. We get that.

Just think the ratings factors are more complicated. To say nothing of the constant war drum of concussions in AMERICAN football. All leads to the lower ratings.

No, but NASCAR ratings are also down significantly. So, there are other factors.

The streaming issues and Neilsen not being able to track it accurately.

In reality, I don't care about ratings. I care about the respect given by those who want My time and money.

One gives it, the other...not so much.

I hope you are right.the NFL is so fucking corrupt I wouldnt miss it. the players same as the owners dont give a shit about the fans.its amazing that the sheep in america go out buy the jerseys of these greedy multi millionaires that play in this day and age. the owners are so fucking corrupt,i hope this hurts their pockets big time.

Last years opener was bad enough as it was so this is funny as hell that THIS one took an even bigger drop in ratings that last years.:2up::abgg2q.jpg:

You're right that there is more to the ratings decline than just the kneeling issue, of course. As you pointed out, the NFL is not the only sport experiencing a ratings drop. The kneeling thing certainly played a part, but only one part of a much larger whole where NFL ratings and viewership is concerned.

Chiefs home games are always sold out.

Also the over the air signal is in 4k vs 1080p streaming. Almost everyone I know watches the over the air version because the picture is incredible.

Add to that the HUNDREDS of apps and websites that let you watch ANYTHING without paying a dime.

Hell if you goto YouTube and type FOX NEWS LIVE STREAM in the search bar a half dozen pirated feeds will pop up. They get caught every couple days but 2 new feeds go up for every one taken down.

Cable is done, they just haven't accepted it yet.

NBA has a built in better following from a global perspective. They have been doing a great job of marketing, plus basketball is just more accepted.

The NFL or FOOTBALL (American) has little interest around the world. Even moreso with the organized left wing attack on the concussion problem etc. Yes, it is a left wing attack. Research the 4 olds in regards to the Chinese marxist revolution. Doing away the old culture, old customs, old ways, old ideas. All really the same things, but that is what it is. Again FOOTBALL is AMERICAN CULTURE. Unlike the other sports which are more worldly.

Ask why bspn does not hype the concussion problems with other sports like hockey, or boxing, or soccer, etc. They gloss over those sports. Its a flat out assault on football.

Is that paranoia on my part? Not so sure.

The NFL probably brings in more money than the NHL, MLS, and whatever the major boxing organization is in the US combined. That might be why it gets so much more media attention. ;)

I stopped watching the NFL some time ago and only watch college ball now. My team simply sucked so badly for such a long time that I could no longer take it, so I gave them up entirely and don't even miss them. I could not pick up another team.

I think that people have too many other things to capture their interests these days. Sporting events are becoming like the circus. These are sports of a bygone era and way of life.

Add to that the expense and stupid political stands and people simply don't want to be bothered anymore.
