The NFL registered the highest unfavorable rating of any major U.S. sport for the third straight month in a newly released survey, a hit attributed in part to the ongoing protests during the national anthem.

Back peddling won't work and even if it did they won't have as many supporters as before. They shit on American now it's our turn to shit on you losers. Hope those pay checks get smaller and smaller bitches.

What's worse, the leadership Goodell provided, or the fact that the owners resigned him for $40M? Maybe the owners need some real competition. Trump once tried to push the USFL, maybe he can encourage some of that kind of competition and really put the NFL on the spot. The new league can have a "non disrespect of the anthem or flag" policy.

This makes me HAPPY.

They worked so hard to offend AMERICANS. Glad to see their efforts are paying off.

Agree and goes to show you don't shit on American's , this also helps prove why Trump won we are a bigger majority as the msm tries to make the hate for America bigger than it really is. They focus so much on those idiots who hate America some think it is rampant and to a degree it is. But American lovers and freedom lovers will always be the power behind this Country.

Pretty sure pay checks aren't getting smaller any time too soon. If anything, they are likely to go up as the salary cap increases. The cap is expected to go up $7-11 million next year. NFL salary cap reportedly could increase to $178M

Also, the NFL just agreed to a new 5-year deal with Verizon for around $2.5 billion, double what Verizon was paying previously. Verizon, at least, seems to think the NFL, while it is certainly experiencing some lower TV ratings, will be profitable to stream. Sources: NFL-Verizon deal worth nearly $2.5B

The NFL may have the highest unfavorable rating in the Winston Group survey, but it is still easily the most popular and profitable professional sports league in the US.

Well, all sports are going to see an increase in revenue because it's a premium product as it cannot be sold on netflix or others (yet). Movies and tv shows are becoming commodities because of these on demand streaming services and the recent purchase of 20th Century Fox by Disney will ensure more services like Netflix, at least that is what I suspect they are planning.

Maybe this will be the future, empty stands and pay per view sports. Right now if the NFL continues to lose fans and interest, this is a horrible deal for Verizon. If I owned shares of a company that was advertising on the NFL I would be asking executives what in the hell they were thinking.

Just to put things in perspective, here is an article about how broadcast TV ratings in general are down: How Much Each Broadcast Net's TV Ratings Are Down From Last Year

This one says that the decline in NFL ratings actually compares favorably to the overall broadcast ratings decline: Yes, the NFL's TV ratings are down but so is the rest of network television

And this just gives NFL ratings compared to last year, game by game: NFL Ratings 2017 Compared to Last Year - Sports Media Watch

The NFL is definitely experiencing lower TV numbers. Considering the overall drop in TV viewership, however, trying to blame it solely on the player protests does not seem to fit the facts. :dunno:

You think ppl aren't dropping Verizon or can't guess who pays for that Verizon does.

Be it they lose customers from the NFL bs, or just in general Verizon is losing their customers.

If you think it's bad now, just wait until ticket prices include a social justice activism surcharge.

They are probably thinking that the NFL still is the biggest revenue sports league in the US, by a wide margin. More, Verizon may see this as a way to generate revenue through mobile viewers; considering how many people seem to live on their cell phones, is that really such a risk?

Certainly some people have given up on the NFL due to the player protests. The narrative that some people are presenting, that the NFL is going to fold or is hemorrhaging revenue, is not supported by the available facts. Major League Baseball was the league with the highest favorable in the survey, and it is still billions behind the NFL in revenues. This could end up as a bad deal for Verizon, but at the moment it doesn't look like it to me.

Disney has already said that it plans to start its own streaming service. Apparently they are not going to renew any of their properties with Netflix or other streaming services, and will instead put their programming in their own. That could mean a whole lot more after the deal with Fox. I don't like how many streaming services are popping up, and I was at first concerned that Disney wouldn't have enough content for their own streaming service, but now I think such a service might be worthwhile. I'd still prefer fewer services, because the more you need, the costlier it will be, which was a big part of the problem with cable/satellite that led to streaming services like Netflix becoming popular in the first place; too much money for not enough content.

Darrin McBreen and Owen Shroyer discuss the liberal influence killing the NFL.
