Newt Gingrich: His Baggage Has Baggage

Bill Clinton is not running for office, nor has he done so in fifteen years. Please make a note of it.

Newt Gingrich IS running for office, and he's the latest flavor-of-the-week in the RNC. He follows in a long list of recent popular flavors: Trump, Bachmann, Perry, Cain....Newt....

Republicans are desperately searching for a Tea Partier who is not batshit crazy. Unfortunately, it seems that one of the requirements of being a Tea Partier is being crazy.

when they give you Romeny after you have gone throught the last members of the clown brigade what will you say about Romeny?

can you say Bachman with a third party ticket?

Too much juicy stuff to post, so I'll let you click the link...

Well, thanks for the link---but it's all shopworn stuff dredged up once again because Newt Gingrich has gained additional popularity on the presidential campaign. Let' just leave it for the inspection of those who enjoy political fart-sniffing. Anyone looking for real facts should read "Setting the Recofd Straight" by Newt's daughter, Jackie Cushman. Like any other human being, Newt Gingrich has personal regrets---and few secrets in that regard.

Beyond that---imagining the worst Gingrich has done could hold a candle to the exploits of Ted Kennedy or Bill Clinton could only bring a giggle to any serious person. Isn't it amazing people are so concentrated on trivialities instead of substantive political debate. Gosh---do you suppose that could be the strategy of the political left---or are they really dropping the ball by not concentrating on the magnificent Obama accomplishments while in office?
Exactly. Seems every time a GOP candidate rises to the top the idiots on the left start attacking him with bull when their own party is riddled with corruption.

Remember when Newt bitched that Clinton forced him and his colleagues to sit in the back of Air Force one, that Clinton wouldn't even talk to them?

and remember when the WH then released a picture of Clinton and Gingrich yucking it up on Air Force One?

Fucking great.

So far the flavor of the month for the republicans have all fizzled and died, Newt is just the latest and if moral hypocrite were a description of this flavor it would sum him up perfectly. Is it any wonder the few intelligent republicans are wondering what happened to their party?

I am wondering why so many defend a known socialist supported anti-American Kenyan. Obamaturd is much worse than Gingrich.

Gee. I didn't know Newt blew an intern in the WH while he was a sitting Prez??

Also didnt' know Newt lied to Congress about it either.

Nothing that serious he just cheated on and then dumped his wife while she was extremely seriously ill, that Newt is a classy philanderer.

From what I've read he didnt' dump his wife at all. His wife and he reached a decision to divorce. Perhaps you should read what his daughter says. She should know. According to her he and his ex are on very good terms.

You can, of course, believe as you wish.

Except it belies what his own wife said herself.

This new revision by his daughter (and what wingers have been pulling out of late) goes against the history of what happened, and the fact that all these years Gingrich has not denied what his wife has said.

Jackie: "He can say that we had been talking about it [divorce] for 10 years, but the truth is that it came as a complete surprise."

He's very good at enlisting the help of his family, even as he stabs them in the back.
Not to be forgotten is the fact this family values guy was a deadbeat dad.
"In his make-or-break 1978 race, Gingrich enlisted Jackie to attack his female opponent, who had announced that if elected she would commute to Washington and allow her family to remain in Georgia. At Gingrich's instigation, Jackie wrote a campaign letter declaring that Newt was a fine husband and would take his family with him, although his top aides already knew Gingrich was having affairs and the marriage was falling apart. The most notorious incident in Gingrich's marriage -- first reported by David Osborne in Mother Jones magazine in 1984 -- was when he cornered Jackie in her hospital room where she was recovering from uterine cancer surgery and insisted on discussing the terms of the divorce he was seeking. Shortly after that infamous encounter, Gingrich refused to pay his alimony and child-support payments. The First Baptist Church in his hometown had to take up a collection to support the family Gingrich had deserted. "

Here is that article from back in

This is the kind of dude so many wingers on placing their hopes on:
"The divorce turned much of Carrollton against Gingrich. Jackie was well loved by the townspeople, who knew how hard she had worked to get him elected-as she had worked before to put him through college and raise his children.

To make matters worse, Jackie had undergone surgery for cancer of the uterus during the 1978 campaign, a fact Gingrich was not loath to use in conversations or speeches that year. After the separation in 1980, she had to be operated on again, to remove another tumor While she was still in the hospital, according to Howell, "Newt came up there with his yellow legal pad, and he had a list of things on how the divorce was going to be handled. He wanted her to sign it. She was still recovering from surgery, still sort of out of it, and he comes in with a yellow sheet of paper, handwritten, and wants her to sign it.

"Newt can handle political problems," Howell says, "but when it comes to personal problems, he's a disaster. He handled the divorce like he did any other political decision: You've got to be tough in this business, you've got to be hard. Once you make the decision you've got to act on it. Cut your losses and move on."

People in Carrollton were particularly incensed by the fact that Jackie was left in difficult financial straits during the separation, after her surgery. According to Lee Howell, friends in her congregation had to raise money to help her and the children make ends meet, and Jackie finally had to go to court for adequate support, before the divorce decree. In his financial statement, Gingrich reported providing only $400 a month, plus $40 in allowances for his daughters. He claimed not to be able to afford any more. But in citing his own expenses, Gingrich listed $400 just for "Food/dry cleaning, etc."—for one person. The judge quickly ordered him to provide considerably more. When an article on the hearing appeared in the local paper, many in town were incensed. On election day, a few weeks later, Gingrich's winning margin in Carroll County fell from 66 percent in 1978 to 51 percent."

Hey AmericanFirst - Gingrich went on national television and flat-outlied to every American as well. On more than one occasion. About substantive issues.

But I'm glad the so-called Conservatives have sunk so low as to rally around "our candidate has higher standards than William Jefferson Clinton!". Please make that your rallying cry.

It's not like right wing sources would ever counter the truth regarding such a situation, doesnt change the fact he was a philanderer who claimed moral superiority while trying to take down another philanderer over philandering.

Well personally Newts ability to be POTUS has more of my interest. In that regard I think he's leagues above the current dimwit in chief.

None of these politicians, either party, are squeaky clean.

If folks think his personal life is more important than how he would govern the country then they are certainly free to cast their votes elswhere.

I don't recall. Did Newt also lie to the entire world while wagging his finger at them?

dont you know by now. Democrats are the only ones that can get a divorce and take the high road and be rewarded for deviant behavior.
