Neoconservatives' Worst Nightmare

The neoconservative agenda of a constantly active military and hardline diplomacy can only continue for as long as it is acceptable to the American people.

A Fox News opinion poll reveals that 73% of Americans believe "it is time that [Iraqis] take on most of the burden of security in their country and let U.S. troops start to come home".

In response to this question: "What do you think the United States should do in Iraq?" Only 39% of Americans responded with "Continue involvement in Iraq".

The neoconservatives' ultimate dreams, as stated by "Project for the New American Century", envision permanent troop deployments in the middle east as well as "multi-theater wars" across the globe. With so many highly ranked Republicans standing as founders of "PNAC", it is likely that the next GOP candidate will also have to support the imperial agenda.

If things in Iraq and Afghanistan do not improve (or if the war is expanded to Iran or NK), a true neoconservative candidate would likely have to lie about these imperial ambitions to even be elected. If the candidate lied and then put America in another compromising war...it could be a major setback to the republican party.

So this leads to several concluding thoughts. Republicans on this board: it is in your best interest to choose a traditional republican candidate not another PNAC tool. Neoconservatives on this board: if your policies are truly un-electable, what will be done to keep control of the oval office?

Since when does anyone run on the idea of declaring a war or promising never to declare a war? If some nation directly attacks us or has an unsucessful attempted attack then we'd be at war, regardless if its a Dem or Republican.

I'm still not 100% sure what a "neocon" is anyway, but I don't think conservatives are out to start wars, we're simply willing to draw a line in the sand and when our enemies cross it.....:flameth:

Seems to me you're doing a little misrepresenting in a Nation pretty much equally divided politically. Even if you give a margin of error of 5%, it STILL doesn't add up to your numbers. Who'd they poll? The DNC?

But please explain WHICH conservatives exactly it is that have EVER called for a continuing involvement in Iraq? Last I heard the plan was to let the Iraqis take over themselves from the beginning.

This is nothing but spin; which, appears to be all you deal in.

Excellent, you are not a neoconservative. The neocon agenda is about taking military action around the globe without there ever being any sort of "attack" to justify a war. Think of Japan post WII. For all practical purposes it was a U.S. subsidary, it to be defended by the U.S. and it would participate in a friendly manner both diplomatically and economically with the U.S. A true neocon wants to see the entire globe in this manner. The U.S. is chief of the world, patrols the world, while everyone else happily invites our corporations to do business and holds little national pride or identity. This stretches beyond the globe. PNAC endorses breaking all space treaties and also believes in government control of the internet.

We are building permanent military bases in Iraq...14 of them to be exact. I do not know who called for these to be built, but PNAC believes in a firm permanent global footing, and Dick Cheney is a PNAC founding member.

ya what a horrible place the world would be if other countries participated in a friendly manner both diplomatically and economically with the U.S.

A true neocon wants to see the entire globe in this manner. the bastards

The problem is not the end, it is the means necessary to obtain such a goal. It is impossible, it is a total abuse of power, it will result in millions of deaths, and ultimately the demise of America.

Do you people never tire in the demise of America BS? We AREN'T "DEMISING" anywhere.

I often wonder what you TRULY wish for, well, maybe not.

We ARE the fairy godmother, the tooth-fairy, Santa-Claus, and the Great Genie all rolled into one. Why, would you want to see the end of such a great experiment in free will?

Were you abused kids, picked on at school, virgins till you were thirty, WHAT already?

You are right, we are not in a demising...That will only happen if we pursue the PNAC agenda.

When I think of the demise of America the terms that come into play are decidely not conservative. They are terms like liberal, homosexual, and feminization.

Are you so sure?

Baseless accusation. Provide evidence to support your allegation.

THAT is how you define "neocon"?:smoke:

Here's a better one: "Neocons" are former Democrats/liberals who had their ideals shifted far left and any semblance of normalcy jerked out from under them during the 70s. What you call a "neocon" today is yesterday's moderate liberal.

The "demise of America" has a FAR better chance of coming at the hands of amoral secular progressives, and ostriches who want to stick their heads in the sand and pretend bad guys don't exist, make excuses for their behavior, and just generally let them walk in the front door and take what they want without so much as a whimper.

Come on now ..... you'er smarter than THAT. The left would sell this country out and everything in it grasping for straws to try and make the right look wrong and/or bad.

They talk this crap; yet, where is THEIR so-called "better" plan? "Bush lied" isn't much of a plan.

Are you so sure?

Wake up. This Nation started on the long path down the shitter the very second it started listening to you libs and your secular-progressive bull. I sure as Hell haven't see our morals get any better. Just worse, as you chip away at them a little at a time. When there aren't any left to defend, you'll bitch about THAT.

Anyone who thinks radical Islam is not a threat and should be left to their own devices is a damned fool living in la-la land. It isn't about global domination. That's just plain-old hogwash. It's about stopping a REAL threat before it becomes too big to stop. When THAT happens, who are you going to bitch to THEN? There won't be any internet or message boards nor First Amendment ..... just wearing your bathtowels as clothing and doing what you're told, how and when you're told to do it.
