Otherwise there should be no permits at all to buy or own a gun. Unfortunately there are some jurisdictions that require permits to buy, own or both – but the practice shouldn’t be allowed to go beyond those jurisdictions. And residents of such jurisdictions should challenge those requirements in Federal court.
