Dear TheOldSchool we need better screening, but not on the federal level.

Local levels need to do more of their own screening and policing for mental health and abuse issues
in ways that STRENGTHEN the community and working relations with teachers and police who are otherwise overburdened if the parents and leaders don't do their part.

As for applauding a new measure that will at least help some cases,
would you just as soon applaud a measure that required citizens go through "spiritual healing"
to diagnose and cure root causes of mental and criminal illness? That would surely help
"some percentage" of criminals who would get help before they endanger anyone else.

But at what cost? At the cost of the public's freedom?
You could impose Christianity and "no sex outside of marriage" and that would help prevent "some cases" of STD from running up public health and welfare costs. But it's overreaching of federal govt to do so.

It is up to the "individual people" on a local scale to police ourselves.
Why keep getting the feds involved to take away everyone's rights
instead of empowering people to enforce our own rights and responsibilities?

Which is more empowering and sustainable over the longterm?
And which just promotes more and more overreliance on govt acting as the big daddy to parent us?

The Democrats have been compared to a Mommy Party that people whine to as victims who need Mommy to kiss it and make it better.
