You know, there are a lot of people that point to herd immunity as a way to beat this thing, and herd immunity would be good if it actually happened.

Unfortunately, we can't be sure on that. There are reports that people have become REINFECTED after catching the virus.

If a person can be reinfected after having it, then immunity doesn't exist.

When will we know if COVID-19 antibodies prevent reinfection?
