could be. we don't know. we do know the dead man was unarmed.

but again, the police shooting and killing an unarmed man isn't really the same as a criminal shooting people. that's what violent criminals do and there's no question on if they'll be protected by the police.

we can't really say the same for a cop shooting an unarmed man, though, can we? we don't know if it was justified, and we don't know if we can trust those investigating.
