I got this 1980ish Armalite AR180 in a trade today....It's in 5.56. Pretty hard to come by in decent shape for anything approaching a decent price. I have $1350.00 in it.
This one was made in England by Sterling.....It's a side folder.
Sadly the mags are proprietary and expensive but PMAG to the rescue!
No, they don't make AR-180 mags but the AR PMAGS are a snap to convert once you do the measuring.....All you do is cut a slot in the side of the mag and grind the hump off on the other.....Boom, a drop free mag.
I did a 10, 20, and 30 round mag.
It used to be a milling type deal with the alum mags
The AR-180 was very popular with the IRA during "The Troubles", they procured a couple thousand in Spain. It's said the money came from the US.
