McConnell (R)- "There is no "Thurmomd Rule"

"...with the advice and consent of the Senate" doesn't mean rubberstamp a judicial candidate because of political expediency.

Oh boy, more disjointed, out of context quotes form a regressive. BTW the Senate will process a nominee in the same manner your dear leader said he would make the nomination. In due time.

Again, does this sound familiar?

"Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell was a moderate, and even before his expected retirement on June 27, 1987, Senate Democrats had asked liberal leaders to form "a solid phalanx" to oppose whomever President Ronald Reagan nominated to replace him, assuming it would tilt the court rightward; Democrats warned Reagan there would be a fight.["

Yet another reason for Repubs to do their jobs and fill that vacancy :eusa_whistle:

Dear Mitch: The President did not sleep with your 1st wife. That was Harry Reid! A lot of your guys out there don't realize how "Notz" Mitch is. Hope that this Post makes it by the Moderators.

If they do it might just be a dem president and a dem congress picking the justice.
TIs a chance we must make.................There will be 2 more coming up for the next President. The Supreme Court is Old...................The next President will decide 3 ......Including this one.

Then that makes it even dumber to chance it. Dems come out to vote for presidential elections. The repub congress doesn't exactly have any accomplishments to brag about.

The Senate has no obligation to appoint another partisan Judge..........Let Obama put a Moderate up or no dice...........Given the consequences of the next election as a do or die on the Supreme Court anyway.

Yes I would assume it will have to be a moderate. That is why it should happen now.

Obama isn't gonna put up a moderate.

Where in the Constitution does it say that the Senate has to consent to Obama's radical ideologue nominations?

This massive difference of opinion on advice and consent just confirms what I have said many times on this forum: the Constitution guarantees nothing. It infers much. Ask any civil rights/constitutional lawyer.

Section 2.
..................
[The POTUS] shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law: but the Congress may by law vest the appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the courts of law, or in the heads of departments.
