General Stanley McChrystal's history is quite colorful.

He was a John Belushi in Animal House.

He was a Sylvester Stallone in the Rambo series.

He was George C. Scott as Patton.

My own suggestions, based on breadth of talent, not too young/not too old would be:

1. Edward Norton
2. Kevin Costner
3. Billy Bob Thornton

Added:

4. Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now! (The Ending)

I can't be the only one who thinks General McChrystal looks like the banjo player in Deliverance?

Even the President figured this one out.

I think edward norton could do him justice, he plays self important nutjobs pretty well.

I'm thinking David Spade or Adam Sandler would be the best casting choices.

Gotta do another edit. That ^ belonged after George C. Scott.

You have to think of someone who could make the transition in features from 18 to 55. It's easier to make up an actor to look old than it is to reverse the process, which is why Edward Norton would be perfect. He has a boyish look to him which would age well. He's also a fantastic actor. If it were someone like Adam Sandler, I would always be thinking he was going to break out in a comedy routine at any moment. I picked Billy Bob Thornton also because of his diverse talents. Think "Bad Santa" and "Sling Blade."

A bunch of us were playing this kitchen table game the other night, so thanks for your suggestions too, none of whom were mentioned.
