OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- A monthly report by the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) shows record highs in children displaced in West Bank home demolitions.
Demolitions saw 67 children displaced in May, the highest monthly figure so far this year, said UNRWA spokesman, Chris Gunness, 64 in Area C and 3 in East Jerusalem.
The report further says that 304 adults and children have been affected or displaced by both demolitions and the destruction of vital facilities like water systems.
Under international law, Israel must ensure that persons under its jurisdiction enjoy the fulfillment of their human rights, including the right to housing, health, education, and water. UNRWA calls on Israel to respect its legal obligations, Gunness said in the report.
