Make money, do good is new corporate buzz - U.S. news - Giving - msnbc.com

This is our future, its how mankind can meet its full potential

NEW YORK — Admitting you are making money by doing some good in the world is no longer a dirty little secret, it's called "creating shared value" — the new catch phrase in corporate and philanthropic circles.

More than 70 chief executives met in New York on Monday, International Corporate Philanthropy Day, for a Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy conference, where one of the key topics discussed was creating shared value.

As the U.S. economy slowly recovers from the worst economic downturn in decades, corporate philanthropy is no longer just about writing a check for charity as executives look to use their core business to do social good.

"Once you understand the impact you can have ... then you are on mission, then it becomes spiritual, it becomes part of the DNA of the company," said Bill Green, chairman of Accenture, who spoke at the conference about maximizing profit and improving society.

Care to provide a link that proves that? or do you admit you are nothing but a liar?

He can't provide a link. It's TM. He doesn't know what he does.

As for this thread, it's all good and dandy and koombaya. And voluntary.

The problem is when a government has lots and lots of men with guns, and they say "You're gonna give us 10% MORE this year than you did last year, on behalf of the greater good. And if you don't pay, these men with guns are gonna take you to jail."

Voluntarily giving some of your money to charity is noble. Giving a reasonable amount through taxes is accepted.

But we are getting into tyranny now.

And I'll be waiting for Al Gore and George Clooney to donate everything above $2 million that they own to this noble cause.

You see, it's not ok to just do a good thing without making websites and tee shirts for the world to see.

Countless companies do good things and never get credit. They do it just because it's a good thing to do, and aren't looking for recognition or credit. I have a personal story about the Maersk company helping my family a lot, and we have no connection with thm, they just did it.

But I suppose in lefty land they need a website, a convention, a cause, a documentary and some cool protest t-shirts or else it wasn't worth it.

Why should she prove anything to you?

You make wild claims like "wis had a balanced Budget before Walker came in and cut taxes on the rich" and you feel you do not have to back that up.

In fact you just run away when you are called on it.

You have the most Ironic Name in this place.

You would not know the truth if it bit you on your dishonest ass honey.

The Clinton Global Initiative, which has brought together chief executives, world leaders and humanitarians annually since 2005 to address global woes, hopes to further encourage U.S. companies to create shared value with a summit in Chicago on June 29 and 30 to address the fragile U.S. recovery.

This was not started by one party or the other.

This is merely and example of good ideas that work for everyone.

Please refrain from trying to make political points for one time in your lives and just be a proud American patting on the back people trying to make their world a better place in really smart ways.

This is our future? This is what businesses have been doing for thousands of years! This is what you rant and rave against all the time. These are the "evil" corporations you always talk about.

There are only two ways to make money in the world:

    1) Deceive people
    2) Provide them with goods and services that they need and want.

The left has demonized companies that have done number 2 for decades and suddenly now you want to pretend its a new option? As if everyone previous to this was just out to decieve people.
