Yes, Russia could crack open. But there are still no signs of Russia being pressed by America, and China continues to sit back and allow Russia to finish the fight alone.

The best indication of Russia becoming desperate is China getting involved. That's because China will never allow America to defeat Russia, on account of China knowing they will be next on America's agenda.

Please keep in mind that's my opinion. I have an opinion on Germany winning the Cold but that's off topic.
