    After repeatedly getting their asses handed to them by the republican attack machine, the dems have finally embraced the new era of truth-optional, whatever it takes to win, politics... as demonstrated by the merciless onslaught targeting Palin and her family. I can't say I blame them of course since the alternative means losing elections. I'm just not sure if I should stand up and cheer or be saddened by it all.

    That's the way I feel. If the other side wins by playing dirty and you lose by saying that below you, what have you won or lost?

    From my perspective Palin is getting everything thrown at her because she was an unknown introduced as VP candidate 10 weeks before the election.

    Had the republicans floated her name more seriously a couple months ago, and this stuff had gotten attention then, the onslaught wouldn't be happening now. There would have been a more slow, sustained set of news items.
