A London imam called for a “curse on infidels” and for Allah to “liberate” an historic mosque in Jerusalem and “protect it from Jews” in an aggressive address to worshippers following the Hamas terror attacks.

On Thursday night, the Royal Borough of Greenwich said it was “disgusted to denounce” the words of Imam Muhammad Abdullah Shakir which, it is understood, were spoken on Oct 20.
And campaigners against anti-Semitism branded the address “repugnant rhetoric” that was “totally unacceptable”.

It comes as police and other public bodies face increasing pressure to address soaring reports of anti-Jewish hate crime amid ongoing rows over protests.

A short clip of the end of a sermon, which is understood to have been about Gaza, emerged on social media.
