The first 90 years or so of our country's history blacks were widely treated as chattel. They were not allowed to own property, left uneducated and not given the right to vote. Then we emerged from the civil war, and we slowly overcame Jim Crow laws. We started to see an emergence of blacks into upper and middle class. We finally have seen the pinnacle of American acceptance of the black race by electing a black president. Now we found ourselves so rife with guilt from our history that we ignorantly spoil our youth. Bowing to every demand like a divorced parent with weekend visitation. The wish for acceptance is being replaced by the demand of entitlement.
