Liars Liars Pants on Fire!

And in other news of rightwing idiocy:

In 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Stolen Valor Act into law--legislation that made it a federal crime to claim false military honors. A recent federal appellate court ruling determined that the law's provisions were an unconstitutional abridgment of free speech. A version of the same legislation is now before Congress, with language designed to avoid the free-speech quandaries raised by the 2005 law.

When your law is declared un-Constitutional, the best thing to do is forget about it and move on to more important things – like creating jobs, funding failing schools, and addressing infrastructure. needs.

The republican House has succeeded in only wasting time and money.

You may not think Stolen Valor is important, but those of us who respect the military do. I'd rather they 'waste' money on this than throwing yet more money at failing schools.

Did a lot of work with the SEALs training cadre and supply folks at BUD/S in San Diego, so I got to know quite a few SEALs. Over some beers one night with a couple of them we got on the topic of phony SEALs and it is not something they, current or retired, take lightly. In fact, there's a small group of retired ones who will actually contact impostures they hear about and strongly urge that they knock off the bullshit.

I was told it was done by phone at first but if some clown persists it can warrant a "visit" from a couple of the exes wherin it's made quite clear to them if they don't cease and desist the next visit will be anything but pleasant. And that usually cures the phony bastards, but every once in a while......
