Latvia told the Jews to get bent about ten years ago regarding this event...they grumble every year but less and less.

Unfortunately, young fascists are ready to take their place.

“Advocates of the veterans and their supporters claim that Latvian Legion soldiers were not involved in atrocities against Jews, despite evidence to the contrary. According to the Latvian government, the Latvian Legion was not really an SS unit and the legionnaires who were not forcefully conscripted merely sought independence for Latvia when they joined Hitler’s army.” ibid

Telling that this canard is still being propagated by Nazi apologists – the Waffen SS in fact committed atrocities and war crimes.

As for Latvia, none of the Allies did a thing to stop Soviet invaders from taking over the country after WW II, so it's no big surprise there are Latvians who supported the German army that fought the Soviets. Much of this 'pro-Nazi' support came after WW II and Latvia was told to fuck off, too bad, you're Russia's bitches now. No one stepped up and backed theirs and Estonia's own choices of neutrality in 1939. So, stop your whining.

Latvians march to honor World War II veterans who fought alongside the Nazis

Around 250,000 Latvians joined the war and fought on both the German and Soviet side. Of these, about 150,000 Latvians died in the war. Nearly 80,000 Jews were reportedly killed in only two years, 1941 to 1942. This composed of 90 percent of the Jewish population before the war. The hunting of the Jews mostly happened two years before the creation of the Latvian Waffen SS Unit leading some Latvians to claim that the unit could not have any participation in the Holocaust.

Of course, it's much more about giving the Russians the finger, actually.

Yes, your fascist ideology and its cognitive dissonances are somewhat interesting, Tammy.
