Second they willingly went to Afghanistan, not on an organized mission, but on really a vacation stop. Now all of Afghanistan is dangerous, but they willingly went to an especially dangerous part of the country. Then they get kidnapped. They get kidnappes while the woman was pregnant. She gives birth in captivity. Now they plead for the countries they hate, US and Canada, for help.
