John Boehner and Republicans want YOU to pick up BP's Tab

PatekPhilippe are you for less regulations? Righty's, you lose on this one. NO more off shore drilling and more regulations for at the very least, SAFETY. Ask those miners family's.

Government regulations are a big part of what got us here to begin with. I'm not saying don't regulate, but don't make regulations that make it next to impossible to stop a leak like we have now. Do you honestly think that if the government hadn't regulated drilling to make it so that it has to be done in 5,000 feet of water and drilling was done in shallower water that there would be this much trouble getting the problem fixed?

How about we regulate drilling in SAFER DEPTHS? Let's regulate the hell out of drillers, but let's do in in a manageable depth so that when something goes wrong we can actually FIX THE PROBLEM.

I know that would be too simple for a liberal mind to wrap itself around.

Rick

Is that what you think? The drilling HAS to be done in 5,000 feet of water? And that was a "liberal" regulation?

How are liberals supposed to respect conservatives when conservatives say something so dumb?

Don't try that stupid lame ass argument of only conservatives say dumb things and all conservatives are dumb. It's, well, dumb.

No, the Feds cleans it up and sends BP the bill for the WHOLE THING. YOU FRIGIN REPUBLICANS ARE HILLARIOUS! But please do keep pushing the Tax Payer helping BP idea. It is a great political platform...idiots

Dense. Very Dense.

Who will do a better job cleaning your house...you or a house cleaner?

BP will do the bare minimum required by the government. CoC simply wants the best job done possible and the only way that will hapopen is with tax payer money.

But please, spin it all you want.

It makes you look silly.

So, now BIG government is the solution and the private sector is too inefficient and self serving?

This is the best question I have seen since this oil mess started.

Righty's, comments?

The answer is something that neither side wants to admit. The ONLY way this will be get cleaned up is if government works WITH BP to clean this up. Why that is so difficult to comprehend is beyond explanation.

What you are overlooking is this fact. The U.S. government is responsible to a degree....we gave BP the license and approved their drilling plan without an adequate back up plan for a disaster....hence...where we are today.

The government gave you a license to drive a vehicle, so if on the way to work after a late night at the tavern you plow into a group of schoolkids, the government should share the responsibility?

I knew this thread would be fertile ground to pick off pea brains...:lol::lol:

Sorry you stupid fucking ass clown..the U.S. government DID NOT give me a driver's license.....and I don't drink and drive like your fucking dumb ass does...
NEXT!!!!

People, when guys respond like this, they lose. Good day sir.

LOL @ that entire argument

A) The government does license you to drive
B) The government does incur plenty of expenses if a person gets in an accident

But I thought you guys wanted the government as far away from private businesses as possible? you know, no more government take overs.

B) Who said the government should take anyone over?

Do you just have the ability to think at all?

boedicca, yeah I would also like to know how you feel. Even though Boehner has stepped away from the chance of us, the tax payers, paying a dime here, there are still come hanging on to that possibility.

WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH YOU!

Answer: Nothing, unless you consider logic and ethics wrong.

Her "corporate masters" have a tight rein.

Wrong. Your Big Government Statists have done a brain wipe on you.

The people being hurt are American workers and small business people. Not using the tax money we have all been paying for just such an emergency in this situation hurts innocent people. What does it say about your morality that you are so intent on sticking it to BP that you are willing to see the entire Gulf Region covered in oil (when some action now could prevent it)?

Could you explain statism to me, in your words?

Very simply:

Statism is collectivism. It is a system of the government having unlimited power over the individual.

On this issue, you have established a less than firm grasp of either.

Very simply:

Statism is collectivism. It is a system of the government having unlimited power over the individual.

Government, ipso facto, is statism.

Read and understand the Constitution to find the answer to your concerns.

Only if I'm measured against the twisted ethics of your amoral anti-matter universe.

You clearly have either never read The Constitution or do not grok it if you have.

In either case, how sad for you.

That's not exactly correct. Well , maybe in a kindergarten sort of way.

Statism is a policy of using the government to solve problems. It may or may not include the government actually owning anything.

For instance , the same end could be met by allowing say BP to remain private but having so may governmental polices in effect that they are basically controlled by the government OR by the government actually owning BP

I didn't say that the government had to own anything. The issue is power. In a collectivist-statist society, the goverment's power is unlimited and the individual is subservient to the state.

Examples: Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Military Dictatorships...
