It seems so. He challenged the power of the state, created the individual, and taught each individual how to think and behave. He did not propose a welfare/nanny state. Rather he nurtured the individual for freedom. This eventually led to Thomas Jefferson and America. We must never forget that we were Romans before we were Christians. For us an afternoon's entertainment was watching people being eaten alive at the Coliseum, at least until Christ taught us this was not right.
