    They being a tyrannical government, be that our own or a foreign power, and it being our rule of law, the Constitution.

    If you want to infringe on people's right to bear arms, you first must amend the Constitution. GL with that.

    I think it is an impossibility. Especially when you look at history and see what can happen when citizens are disarmed. No true American will give up his right to defend himself and it's not just defense against criminals but also a defense from a tyrannical government.

    There seems to be a lot of doubt as to whether that was actually a quote of Jefferson.
