It's a trap!

One of my brother's fish is stuck in an underwater dwelling in his fish tank. Apparently the fish tried to swim through a hole in the dwelling, but stuck and cannot get out. It's been trying to get out forever, it looks kind of funny actually, especially since the fish is upside down and keeps flailing it's fins around trying to get free. I only noticed it like 15 minutes ago, and I haven't done anything to help the fish yet, I wonder how long he's been trapped like that. I just checked again, and I believe that the fish is slowly killing himself, apparently since he is waggling against the rock dwelling, he is slicing his stomach open a little bit at a time. I saved the fish. I tied some rope (well floss actually) around his midsection and pulled. At first it didn't work, but then I finally got him out. His entire midsection is severely damaged though, and he doesn't seem to swim right, and he keeps swimming on only one side and then falling down to the bottom of the tank, but he's alive, and that's what counts.

Atleast now he gets to live his final minutes/hours/days (possibly lifetime) free of being trapped. Even if he is incapable of swimming and is merely gasping for breath on the bottom of the tank.

What's funny is my little brother's fish that has the severe wound and got stuck in there is still barely clinging on to life. But another one of his fish, one that was alive prior to me saving the one that was trapped, is now dead. So a seemingly healthy fish died before one that got it's stomach ripped half open, isn't that odd?
