It's 90 degrees in New York City, in early April...

Decades? LOL Meaningful changes in climate usually take place over geological time. One warmer talked about the last CO2 burst changing the climate over a period of "millions of years"

But I'll let you add 300PPM of deadly CO2 in a second and see how long it takes for the Cat 5 hurricanes to spawn in the tank

Yes, they USUALLY do take place in geologic time.

That is the POINT.

That they are changing in a very short amount of time relative to other historic change periods....

Just typical cycles in the changes of temperatures through the last billion years.

Where are all the global fear mongering alarmists?

Hey, I do believe that the Global Warming theory is correct, so I guess I might fit that description, lol.

I just don't think that people should point to a hot or cold day and claim it proves their side of the argument.

The alarmists can't take a 100 year span when talking about global warming either. This planet is 5 billion years old and has had all types of warming and cooling. The planet has been completely covered in ice on more than one occasion, and has found a way to melt the ice without all of the man made pollutants.
Hey, I'm not buying into the global warming theory

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree on that front.

But we do agree that certainly a few days of abnormal weather does not make a basis for a judgement on climate change.

Yes, we do agree on that, Vast

Interestingly enough, mankind hasn't been on this planet that long, yet we seem to be causing things to happen in a couple hundred years (i.e. since the Industrial Revolution), that took thousands to happen before.

Yeah.......right........mankind has no effect.............wanna tell that to the Buffalo?

Its going to be back down to the 60s by thursday/friday. This happens every spring. just like we get that hot patch in September/October.

Both sides seem to like pointing to the weather when it suits them.

That was exactly my point.

I was making a comment on the fact that Inholfe, all the Right-Wing Pundits, and a few posters on this board were screaming "Fraud!" due to the extra precipitation we had over the winter.

I was pointing out how foolish it is to use the weather from a location on any given day and say it proves or disproves Global Warming.

i agree. al gore is still a fraud however.

LOL.

Well, only time will tell who's right and who's wrong.

We do know that several islands, that were just above sea level in the Indian Ocean, now no longer exist, and there was no erosion to speak of.

India and Bangladesh now have several less small pieces of land to argue about.

Sure! This is just the latest island off of India to disappear, I'll see if I can find the other stories, they were a year or two back...

mud shifting in the bay of bengal proves AGW? not in my world it doesn't.

it proves mud shifts. and then shifts again. nothing more nor less.

It was 68 degrees and sunny at Cavallo Point at Fort Baker today.

If this is what Global Warming means, bring it.

Dining outside with a view of the GoldenGate Bridge - it really doesn't get better than that.

Global Warming wakkos lost credibility when they started calling it Global Climate Change...

"Fuck! Mother Earth isn't getting warmer? Call it Climate Change and charge extra for carbon credits!!"

Where did all the right-wing talk about heavy snowfall proving that there's no global warming go?

It's been awfully quiet on that front lately, hasn't it?

Now, I'm not one to say a few abnormally hot weeks in early spring are absolute proof of Global Warming...

...But I wonder if an official apology from the James Inholfe crowd will be forthcoming, after their comments about Al Gore being a "criminal" due to the fact that it snowed a lot this winter?

I won't hold my breath.

Actually, its the completely contradictory positions you on the left take that makes every change in weather some sort of evidence of global warming that disproves it.

Also, it's only been two days since the warm weather started. Most people dont make conclusions based off of two outliers.

Well, you can choose to accept it or not, but the scientists on the scene all seem to believe it is the work of rising sea levels. Notice how they differentiate between the loss due to sea levels and the loss due to erosion (or mud-shifting):

The island began shrinking in the 1990s, part of an 81-square-mile reduction in landmass witnessed in the Bay of Bengal's Sunderbans mud flats during the past 40 years, Hazra said. An additional 27 square miles have been lost to erosion, he added.

That's GREAT! A few feet of rising sea levels would give me ocean front property!

Bring it!
