Sitting here, enjoying my morning coffee, Fox News on in the background (need to find out if we bombed some shitty mud-hut country overnight), and one of the talking heads was being critical of "mainstream media".
Now, I'm more conservative than liberal and, yes, I probably watch Fox News more than anything else (I haven't watched MSNBC since the Clinton administration). But I harbor no illusion that FNC isn't "mainstream". They always tout themselves as the most watched cable news network. When you consider that the vast majority of homes in the United States have cable television, isn't it all pretty much "mainstream"?
Seriously, "mainstream media" has got to be just about the most useless, meaningless term in the American broadcasting lexicon...
