With Strikes, Modi Sets New Precedent For India In Dealing With Pak

India did well by having a surgical strike across the Line of Control and taking out terrorists who had gathered there to launch attacks against Indian citizens. For the first time, a government has stood up and said very clearly they will go in hot pursuit to areas where terrorists are gathered and take them out - and they have done it very boldly. For the last 30 years, the government of India has failed to carry out its constitutional duty of protecting the lives and property of its citizens from attack by a terrorist state which is a neighbour and sends jihadi terrorists across the border to attack Indian citizens. Pakistan lives today in a state of denial, full of conspiracy theories. Its army treats India as an enemy nation and this doctrine is at the core of its existence.

For the last 30 years, the government of India has been speaking to Pakistan and Pakistan has made it very, very clear that it wants Kashmir at all costs and Kashmir remains the core issue. And to get Kashmir, they make sure that they have terrorists (who they call "good" terrorists) in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and send them across the border. Openly, in Pakistan, elements like Hafiz Sayeed and Syed Salahuddin go around to raise money to fund these terrorists and they have camps that train them. It is well known that the Pakistani army is involved in training these people and many Pakistani generals have gone on record that they justify the use of non-state actors in terrorist activities against its neighbour.

Opinion: With Strikes, Modi Sets New Precedent For India In Dealing With Pak

India has never shown that it has what it takes to deal with these people. Neither has America, either, but India in particular has been pathetic.

This is what you need to do:
-round up all Muslims, every single one, and ship them to Pakistan
-destroy all the mosques
-tell any Muslim that if they dare enter India they will get shot

But we'll never do that, because we weak Hindus are all "peace loving" and sheet.

Does this mean they're openly going to war?

For past almost a decade or so, Pakistan has been sending terrorists into India to hit civilian and security establishments. After each terrorist attacks, Pakistan has threatened India that it will nuke India if India responded. Recently they (Pakistanis) did another terror hit inside India and killed 17 Indian security personnel with incendiary bombs. In response, India carried out a surgical strike inside Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) killing 40 Pakistani terrorists and 9 Pakistani military men who tried to intervene on behalf of Pakistani terrorists. Tensions are very high right now. It looks like India does not give rat's ass about Pakistan's nukes at the moment. As we speak, India is carrying out massive war game exercise along Pakistani coasts to deter Pakistan from further escalating. Pakistan is denying that the surgical strike ever happened which is a good sign actually; this means that Pakistani military will not be under any pressure to retaliate.

I agree with this. I think India should give Pakistan a ladder to step down.

But I would argue here that in this case, Pakistan's denial isn't an example of its illusion, rather a laudable step in a difficult situation. So long as the Pakistan Army does not carry out any retaliatory misadventures and stays within the confines of rhetoric and even ridicule, India would do well to give Pakistan the legroom it needs and even indulge in some of its false bravados. A bit of banter never harmed anyone. Nobody, absolutely nobody wants a full-scale war between two nuclear-armed nations.

Why the world should applaud Pakistan for continuing to deny India's surgical strikes - Firstpost

The surgical strike against the terrorist camps along the Line of Control (LoC) announced by the Army has confirmed what had been anticipated over the last few days: namely that the Modi team would ‘respond’ in an appropriate manner to the enormity of the Uri terror attack.

This strike was a limited counter-terror operation with a clear set of signals embedded in it -- and some of them can be decoded from the press briefing of the director general of military operations, Lt. General Ranbir Singh, on Thursday.

As the phrase surgical-strike suggests, this was a precise incision, with a limited objective: neutralising the terrorist pads that were likely to be used for strikes against targets in India. It is understood that credible intel had been obtained over the last week that alerted the local commanders of what was afoot. This was conveyed up the chain and for the political leadership, a resolute decision had to be taken.
